BEGINNERS SHORTHAND
(PITMAN NEW ERA)

This course is designed for the complete beginner or 'major refresher' to cover all the theory up to speeds of 50 - 70 wpm. A further four to six weeks will give you more advanced shorthand and speed development up to 80 - 100 wpm. Understanding is easy with our special method. Students often take shorthand before college courses to help with note-taking in subjects such as law.

Job Prospects: PA Secretary, Legal Secretary, jobs requiring minute-taking skills. Also Journalist, Lawyer, Writer.

Attendance: 6 weeks mornings or own timetable from 1 - 5 mornings per week. (90 hours)

SHORTHAND SPEED DEVELOPMENT
(Any Level)

Speed comes with confidence. Let us help you build on both. Shorthand speed is not just practice, you have to learn all the tricks of the trade.

Attendance: 5 mornings or own timetable from 1 - 5 mornings per week. (15 hours)

REFRESHERS SHORTHAND
(Any Level)

If you think you've forgotten it you'll be surprised how quickly it comes back. Many refreshers have not touched shorthand for twenty years or more but can refresh skills in as little as 15 hours! None of them can believe it until they see it. There is a shortage of good shorthand writers and therefore many well-paid jobs waiting for you.

Attendance: 5 mornings or own timetable from 1 - 5 mornings per week. (15 hours)

SHORTHAND EXAM PREPARATION

A short course to prepare you for your exam. Designed for students whose speed is currently 50-100 wpm. Audio dictation and tutor class.

Attendance: 10 mornings or own timetable from 1 - 10 mornings per week. (30 hours)

3-MONTH SECRETARIAL COURSE
(Advanced Level)

Subjects: Typewriting, Pitman New Era Shorthand, Word Processing, Audio-Typing and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook (email).

This intensive course trains the beginner or refresher in eight subjects. The course is suitable for any person wishing to gain a higher status secretarial career. Undergraduates and 'A' Level leavers may find the skills very useful for note-taking and typing of their dissertations and theses.

City & Guilds Examinations are taken in Elementary Typing and Intermediate Typing, Shorthand (50-80wpm), Word Processing and Audio Typing II with a Diploma in Intermediate Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook (email) and the Internet.

SPEED AIM: 40 - 50 wpm Typing, 50 - 80 wpm Pitman Shorthand

Job Prospects: Shorthand-Typist, Shorthand Secretary, PA/Mecial/Legal Secretary, Journalist, Writer, Lawyer, Translator, Publishing/Media work.

6-MONTH PA/SECRETARIAL COURSE
(Advanced Level)

Subjects: Pitman New Era Shorthand, Typewriting, Audio-Typing, Word Processing, Office/Secretarial Procedures, Business English, Windows, Microsoft Office: Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint Graphics, Access Database, Outlook (email)and the Internet.

SPEED AIM: 50 - 60 wpm Typing, 80 - 120 wpm Shorthand

A fully comprehensive knowledge of secretarial skills in today's world enabling the student to take up an interesting and varied career at PA/Personal Secretary level plus City & Guilds Intermediate and Advanced examinations. The Secretarial Procedures and Business English classes cover all the duties you are likely to perform in addition to shorthand-typing, eg: meetings procedure, diaries, office equipment, financial documents, communications, travel arrangements, marketing, company structures etc. An in-house speaker is also included.

City & Guilds Examinations available on this course:

Starting: The course can be commenced at any time but popular starting dates are in January, June and September.

ONE YEAR SECRETARIAL COURSE FOR OVERSEAS STUDENTS

(Visa letters for 12 months) (Advanced Level) More than an academic year (40 weeks). Whilst following the subjects of the six month course more attention is given relating to Business English and Shorthand. Lower Cambridge, Advanced and Proficiency exams can be arranged.

A fully comprehensive knowledge of Secretarial Skills in today's world enabling the student to take up an interesting and varied career plus City & Guilds Intermediate and Advanced Examinations.
